The 2024 SHHS Performing Arts Tour to New York City is from Friday, March 15 – Tuesday, March 19th. Departure will be early in the morning on March 15th and we’ll return late on the evening of March 19th. We will fly to New York Friday morning, and spend four amazing days and nights in "the greatest city of the world," New York City. Our itinerary will include many exciting opportunities for performances, workshops, sightseeing, and experiencing this one-of-a-kind city.
A more detailed itinerary will be available on our website, www.shhschoirs.org about a month prior to departure. Updates and changes to the itinerary may occur.
DORM-STYLE HOTEL
In March 2023, the Nebo School District and Board of Education passed new policy regarding Student Education Travel, specifically that all "overnight lodging must provide one bed per student" (Nebo School District 2023 IICA "Student Education Travel" 4.11.2). With such a dramatic change in requirements, we've been forced to think more creatively about our accommodations on tour. It is for this reason we've decided to stay in a dorm-style micro hotel than a traditional hotel. In these dorms, the rooms will sleep anywhere from 4-8 students, each with their own twin-size bunk bed. All female students will be held on one floor of the hotel and all male students will be on a separate floor. Each floor has a number of restrooms, each with several private showers, toilets, and plenty of space. Students may find this experience very similar to staying in the dorms at BYU or Snow College.
STUDENT COST ($1700.00)
The total cost of tour is $1700 for students. All transportation costs, all meals each day, and all activities will be included; however, students may wish to bring additional spending money for souvenirs and other tour keepsakes. All other tour expenses are already included in the total price.
ADULT TRAVELLER COST ($1700.00)
For the cost of $1700, adult travellers will be provided the same dorm-style hotel accomodations as the students. On the women's floor and the men's floor, several dorm rooms and one restroom (with several private, locking showers, toilets, etc) will be reserved for adults. This means parents will be asked to room with other parents in the dorms, 4-8 to a room, the same way the students are set-up. Husband and wife couples would need to be split up to sleep in the dorms.
If adults are interested in having a little more space and privacy, we are offering a Double Occupancy Hotel Upgrade Package for $250/each. By upgrading to Double Occupancy, you will be moved from the dorms to a hotel within walking distance from the dorms. A Single Occupancy Hotel Upgrade Package is also available for $730.
Adults who wish to serve as chaperones on this tour are encouraged to stay in the dorms with the students, but the Double and Single Occupancy Hotel Upgrade Packages are available to all adults.
All adult travelers are required to make their travel arrangements through our travel partners at InfinityTours and their online payment portal, WeTravel.
Student/Parent Rooming Requests
Students are encouraged to stay in the dorms with other students, but in the case where a student and parent would like to room together, each will need to pay the $250 Double Occupancy Hotel Upgrade Package Fee.
